Risky Development Partners?
Companies budgeting $500,000 and up for major applications development
projects are gambling against the odds. According to the Standish Group, a
consulting firm in Dennis, Mass., internal information systems groups
complete only 16% of such projects on time and on budget. In addition, nearly
a third of the projects are canceled and more than half come in well over
budget. Considering these failures, it's not clear outside help changes the odds.
