DS announced licensing pacts with Platinum Technology Inc. and Reasoning Inc. last week that ex
pand its arsenal of year 2000 tools.
Platinum, in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., and Reasoning, in Palo Alto, Calif., also agreed to provide services, support, and training to EDS customers who use their tools.
EDS has big ambitions for its year 2000 business, called EDS CIO Services 2000. The division's president, John McCain, says the total value of its potential year 2000 contracts exceeds $2 billion.
Many EDS customers already use Platinum's TransCentury tool suite, and could continue to do so alone or with tools from Reasoning's Reasoning/2000, an automated code-analysis and code-adjustment tool for modifying MVS-based Cobol code.
