Two More States Claim Year 2000 Compliance

By Bruce Caldwell

I llinois and Wyoming are the sixth and seventh states to make their financial-management systems year 2000-compliant, according to a survey by the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers, and Treasurers in Lexington, Ky. Both states used Advantage 2000, a year 2000-compliant financial-management system from American Management Systems Inc.

States previously claiming year 2000 compliance are Arkansas, California, Georgia, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Michigan and Oregon also report that their major financial systems are ready for the date change.

Among the 17 states still using earlier versions of Advantage, eight are upgrading to Advantage 2000, the Fairfax, Va., vendor says.

The survey also indicates that 32 states plan to achieve year 2000 compliance by fixing logic data in existing systems. Most of the rest plan to upgrade to compliant versions of their systems.
