Cabletron CEO To Retire In December
By
Monua Janah
Starting in 1983, Benson and Le- vine built Cabletron, in Rochester, N.H., from a networking-cable vendor to a $1.4 billion manufacturer of a wide range of network hardware. The two men became known as aggressive competitors-and for maintaining a no-frills, penny-pinching corporate culture.
Reed, 53, will assume his new post Sept. 1. Levine will remain with Cabletron through November to ease the transition.
