oftware Technologies Corp. is planning the February release of an application integration tool designed to provide out-of-the-box integration between SAP's R/3 suite and Siebel Systems Inc.'s customer-relationship management package. The SAP-Siebel Intelligent Bridge will offer built-in integration logic that automatically synchronizes product data and account and order information between the most popular CRM package and the market-leading ERP suite.Alyssa Berg, the company's global alliance manager, says the Intelligent Bridge covers an estimated 80% of the integration most companies require between SAP and Siebel. But Meta Group analyst Dan Scholler finds that claim somewhat arbitrary. "Every packaged software vendor says they cover 80%, but it really depends on complexity of people's business process," he says. "Whether
STC provides the bulk of the integration or a small fraction depends on how a company defines its customers and what processes affect customer information."
Still, many companies say integrating front-office and back-office applications is key to their E-commerce initiatives. Computer retailer CompUSA Inc. uses both SAP and Siebel applications and is evaluating several integration packages, including Software Technologies', to tie them together. "We have some capabilities on the Net right now--customers can check price and availability of products in stores," says CIO Honorio Padron. "Soon we want to fulfill orders online and give customers the ability to check the status of a work order. Integration is a core requirement for enabling that."
Software Technologies says SAP and Siebel Systems have also certified the latest versions of its adapters for their respective software. The company's e-Way for R/3 and e-Way for Siebel ease the process of integrating those applications with other business systems, including legacy software; ERP packages from Baan, Oracle, and PeopleSoft; and E-commerce suites from BroadVision.
Pricing for the SAP-Siebel Intelligent Bridge will start at $100,000. SAP and Siebel e-Ways are shipping now; each is priced at $15,000 to $45,000. Each product requires the company's core integration platform, e-Gate, which starts at $250,000.
