Content Manager Turns To Outsourcer
Trapezo saved time setting up Web site by using Intira to manage its infrastructure

    Trapezo Inc. is launching a Web content-management service in mid-April. The company needed only a little more than a month to get its Web site up and running, partly because it decided to outsource all the infrastructure to Intira Corp.

    Trapezo manages relationships between E-businesses by managing content for its customers. It writes HTML links that appear on customer sites and drive traffic to databases created by Trapezo and hosted by Intira. One Trapezo customer, an IT news and information site, uses Trapezo to create links between the main news site and vendor catalog information.

    As online startups form partnerships and link Web sites, they can run into compatibility issues and have to write interfaces to accommodate their partners' technology, says Satyen Kothari, Trapezo's president and co-founder. "Trapezo acts as a management structure between dot-coms," he says.

    Outsourcing to Intira appealed to Trapezo because it offered a single point of accountability for hardware, networking, operating systems, Oracle database management, systems monitoring, and security, Kothari says. It also guarantees Trapezo 99.95% uptime.

    Bill Martorelli, VP of E-services and sourcing for Hurwitz Group, says Intira stands out as an outsourcer because it can bring customers to market quickly and also guarantee them high availability. "Intira is in a good position because it handles most elements of its customers' outsourcing engagements," Martorelli says. "This makes Intira appealing to an emerging category of enterprise-the kind of companies that don't want to hire a lot of staff or deal with the complexities of hosting mission-critical applications for their customers."
