GPS Time Stamps
Ixia has introduced a QoS Performance Tester with integrated global positioning system technology. It is aimed both at Internet service providers and carriers that must validate network performance to verify quality-of-service metrics for service-level agreements. It's useful not only for bandwidth providers but also for large users that require an independent measure of network performance. It can measure latency and jitter through a WAN. PentaWare's PentaZip file-compression software is certified for Windows 98 and NT. It includes integrated viewer technology capable of displaying more than 40 file formats and a viewer that lets users see file contents without waiting for the files to decompress or applications to open, eliminating the risk of viruses being launched through E-mail attachments. Western Telematic's Console Management Switch lets users connect up to 16 serial console or AUX ports via Telnet. It provides secure, in-band and out-of-band access to RS232 console ports and maintenance ports on Unix servers, routers, and other network equipment. VSI's Mentor is a network-delivered, just-in-time, multimedia training tool that lets companies simultaneously communicate the message behind any companywide initiative. Delivered via the Internet, CD-ROM, or LAN, it's available through bit-streaming technology in 30-to 90-second sound bites. There's no downtime, as with classroom or computer training. Visual Vision's iPer Hyper Publish PRO is a Windows program that can create Web pages, CDs, and catalogs from a single source document. It provides an easy-to-use tool to create hyperlinked pages. Designed for nontechnical people who don't want to worry about HTML, it can publish a whole page set, or publish the same page set on a CD. Hewlett-Packard's HP DLT Autoloader 818 is a one-drive, eight-slot backup library with up to 320 Gbytes of native capacity, depending on configuration, and 6-Mbyte-per-second native sustained transfer rates. An optional low-voltage differential SCSI controller works with new-generation PC servers, as well as the high-voltage differential SCSI controller for use with high-voltage SCSI host bus adapters. It includes five cartridges, a cleaning tape, a cartridge magazine, and components to get it up and running quickly, including cables, host bus adapter, terminator, TapeAssure diagnostic software, and HP TapeAlert management software. Lower-Cost integrated access
Adtran's Atlas 550 is a six-slot integrated access device that combines voice switching, time division multiplexing access, and packet switching. Voice, data, video, and Internet traffic are converged onto one or two T1 circuits for transmission over frame relay, TDM, or hybrid networks. It comes with frame relay and support for analog voice interfaces, and can migrate to asynchronous transfer mode and voice over IP.

It has four general-purpose expansion slots and two network interface option slots, supporting one or two T1 connections to the carrier network. Price: Starts at $2,995.
