How We Got The Numbers
![]() |
he Global IT Strategies 2001 study was authored by InformationWeek Research and fielded on the Web by London-based NOP Business (a sister company of InformationWeek's parent, United Business Media LLC) in March. We surveyed a total of 894 IT and business professionals spanning 25 countries. The respondents are segmented by country of origin and divided into four global regions--North America, South America, Europe, and the Pacific Rim--to highlight the use of IT and specific approaches to global commerce among the 25 nations taking part in the study.
Companies of all sizes responded to the study. At the high end, 22% have annual revenue of $1 billion or more, 4% have revenue of $500 million to $999 million, and 12% have revenue of $100 million to $499 million. At the mid-to-low range, 6% have annual revenue of $50 million to $99 million, 19% have revenue of $6 million to $49 million, 16% have revenue of $1 million to $5 million, and 12% have an annual revenue of less than $1 million. Nine percent wouldn't specify their revenue.
By title, 60% of the respondents describe themselves as working in IT management, and 18% work as IT staffers. Another 17% are in general corporate management, and 5% are in general corporate staff.
