John SoatJohn Soat writes the IT Confidential column, and has been at InformationWeek since the Fall of 1989. John has been writing about computer software and systems since 1987, when he joined the staff of Computer Decisions as its software editor. Previously, John covered information technology and management issues as an associate editor for Administrative Management magazine and as editor of the Office Automation Report newsletter. John graduated from Ohio University in 1978 and earned an M.A. degree in creative writing from Columbia University in 1981.
