Michael Hammer is president of Hammer and Co. Inc. and a former professor of computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the author of numerous articles and of three books: Reengineering the Corporation: A Manifesto for Business Revolution (HarperBusiness, 1993); The Reengineering Revolution: A Handbook (HarperBusiness, 1995); and his latest book, Beyond Reengineering: How the Process-Centered Organization is Changing Our Work and Our Lives (HarperBusiness, 1996). He was named by BusinessWeek as one of the four pre-eminent management thinkers of the 1990s. In 1996 he was named by Time magazine to its first list of America's 25 most influential individuals.
