FOR VENDORS AND PR PEOPLE:
I want you to write about me (or the company I represent).
Your best bet is to contact the reporter or editor who handles your technical or business area. See the Editor's Beat List to find the right person. Send the reporter an E-mail message, however, rather than pick up the phone; that's what most journalists prefer.
Before you do, though, make sure that you understand InformationWeek and the nature of its coverage. Keep in mind that we take an end-user enterprise perspective. In general, we avoid NDAs and embargoed material.
Who is working on which story?
Look at the editorial calendar to see what's coming up that fits your company. If you find something appropriate, the proper person to contact is the writer associated with that beat.
If you want to do the best job possible of communicating with InformationWeek editors and reporters, we recommend that you read our our tips for contacting us.
What are your deadlines?
For the Daily Newsletter and news posted on the Web site, it's every weekday. For print content, the deadline for feature stories is three weeks before publication date; the deadline for news stories is Wednesday, though we try to accommodate breaking news on Thursday as well.
How do I find out which reporter is covering a trade show?
The news editors know which reporter is attending a trade show. Send a message to Alex Wolfe.
Do you accept outside contributions?
Freelancers interested in writing for InformationWeek should E-mail their contact information to Mary Stevens, InformationWeek's managing editor of TechTracker. We're particularly interested in hearing from people with hands-on IT experience who are interested in writing. We don't publish unsolicited articles, though we sometimes run thought-provoking opinion columns by outside contributors.
I want to advertise in InformationWeek.
Look at our Technology Marketing Solutions site, or contact a salesperson.
I want to reprint a story that appeared in InformationWeek or a reprint of an article you published.
Go here.
