While new orders showed some vigor, shipments of computer products from April to May edged up a mere 0.9%, and total inventories remained virtually flat, rising only 0.2%. Unfilled orders actually declined by 1.1%.
WorldCom said it had improperly transferred line-cost expenses worth $3.055 billion in 2001 and $797 million in the first quarter of 2002 to its capital accounts, resulting in inflated earnings statements for those periods.
