The British Columbia Medical Association and other experts are calling for the Canadian government to crack down on pharmaceutical companies that are marketing their products directly to consumers through social media websites, the Vancouver Sun reports. Canadian law prohibits pharmaceutical companies from marketing drugs directly to consumers. Drug advertisements in the country are allowed to mention only a drug's name, price and quantity.
