Verizon challenged the way America does wireless today when it announced that it plans to open its wireless network to third party mobile devices, software, and applications. If other carriers are forced to follow suit, what might that mean to small and midsize companies' mobility plans?

What IBM's Cognos Buy Means For Smaller Companies

IBM's long-rumored plans to acquire business intelligence vendor Cognos for $5 billion will put half of the consolidated BI tools market in the hands of IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, and SAP. Clearly, the days of buying business intelligence tools from an independent software vendor are drawing to an end.
