Now They're Giving Away Kid's GPS Cell Phone

A company in the UK is actually now giving away cell phones aimed at children. The phones have four preset buttons and feature GPS. The company doesn't charge for the phone or the GPS tracking, but does charge a normal rate for the phone calls.

The UK company calls the phone the "TeddyFone," though the same Chinese phone has been called the "i-Care Baby Bear" phone and the "Kare" phone in Asia.

Is this the future of cell phones marketing? Free phones?

Is this the future of childcare? GPS tracking?

I don't know the answer to these questions, but I do believe this is a fairly radical move intended to generate a new comfort level with very young children owning cell phones.
