PCs Are The New Lunchbox

Posted by Mike Elgan, Jun 7, 2006 11:19 AM

When I was a lad, most of the kids who brought lunch to school carried a pop-culture themed metal lunchbox -- usually comic or TV characters. Well, we all grew up, got jobs and now sit there with our PCs all day. Why not choose a PC that looks like an oversized lunchbox?

Alienware just rolled out Superman themed systems -- limited edition Laptop and Desktop PCs. (And this has to be the best Web site ever built for selling PCs.)

And Dell gave away X-Men PCs as part of a promotion recently.

These limited edition lunchbox-like systems are getting a lot of blog press -- it appears there's a market for them. But is it a trend?
