Make Your Own Nifty iPod Case

Posted by Mitch Wagner, Nov 20, 2006 05:24 PM

This is neat -- use a hollowed-out hardcover book as an iPod case.. But first you'll need to know how to hollow out a book to put a secret chamber in it..

For added niftyness: Put your cell phone in there too. Use embedded magnets to hold the book cover closed when not in use.

Use a book with a plain cover, and laminate the cover of an old pulp magazine on the book. That would look great.

P.S. I mentioned the idea about the magnets to my wife, and she said, "Magnets next to a hard disk? Is that smart?"

P.P.S. The graphic on the right is from a 1930 issue of Astounding Stories of Super-Science. It illustrates a story called "The Ape-Men of Xlotli." Isn't it wonderful? There's a whole library of the complete run of Astounding-Analog covers from 1930 to last year. It's just amazing. (Oh, wait, no, Amazing Stories was a competing magazine.)
