Will You Shut Up Already?!
Gmail recently launched a new feature that will allow you to "mute" endless discussion threads that you're not interested in following. Just press the "m" key and, unless a message is addressed directly to you, you'll never see that discussion thread (Gmail calls 'em "conversations") again. Further messages in the conversation will go directly to the message archive, where you won't see them unless you specifically go looking for them.

I use Gmail primarily for bulk mail, including discussion lists, and there's some discussions on those lists that I'm just not interested in. So this lookes like a pretty nifty feature; I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

By the way, remember I was kvetching last week about how I couldn't switch my personal e-mail address to use either the Gmail service (via Google Apps for Your Domain) or Yahoo Mail's new beta interface? Well, someone at Gmail was paying attention -- they e-mailed me and helped me get set up. So now e-mail addressed to my personal address gets directed to a Gmail account. So now I'm a happy Google Apps for Your Domain user. I'll write about that more later this week.
