Reach Out And Touch Your Computer

Posted by Mitch Wagner, Jan 19, 2007 02:24 PM

What will the computer user interface of 2017 look like? Maybe something like this, which allows users to reach out to the computer screen and touch and move objects on it as though they were physically real. Check out the mind-blowing video demo.

The interface is the brainchild of researcher Jef Han. "In this Googly age, it only takes a random genius or two to conceive of a technology so powerful that it can plow under the landscape and remake it in its own image. People are already betting that Jeff Han is one of them," writes Fast Company. (As far as I can see, you can't access the Fast Company article directly unless you're a subscriber, but you can access it if you do it through a link on the page where the video is hosted, above.)

We posted a video of a tabletop version of Han's interface in March.
