One Third Of Americans On The Web Have Used Wireless Internet
Drilling down, 27% of Internet users polled said they have logged on to the Web wirelessly from a place other than their home or office. Roughly 34% of Internet users surveyed said they have accessed the Web using a notebook, a PDA, or a cell phone. Of Internet users polled with PDAs, 13% are able to connect to the Web with those devices wirelessly. And what do these wireless users look like? On a typical day, 72% of them check their e-mail, compared with 63% of broadband users and 54% of all Internet users. And, 40% of wireless users have cell phones with Internet access. In short, wireless users are power users. While these numbers may not sound that impressive, they demonstrate definite growth. For example, the number of U.S. Internet users with home wireless networks has almost doubled since 2005. You can bet these numbers will continue to grow. « Quick Look: The Playaway | Main | DoCoMo And McDonald's To Allow Mobile Payments For Big Macs » |
