Posted by Stephen Wellman, Feb 1, 2007 01:26 PM

Hard drive maker Seagate Technology today at DEMO showed off what it has dubbed DAVE (digital audio/video experience), a wireless storage platform. DAVE gives users 10 GB to 20 GB of wireless storage in a form-factor smaller than most cell phones. Sign me up.

The DAVE reference design is about the size of a credit card, with dimensions of 3.5 x 4.7 x .47 inches and weighing in at roughly 2.5 ounces.

DAVE can use both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections and is designed to work with mobile phones, PCs, and other wireless-enabled mobile gadgets. Seagate said DAVE is open source and that the company will even be available to other device makers and wireless carriers for white label reproduction.
