Rumors Grow That Google Is Building A Mobile Phone

Posted by Stephen Wellman, Mar 13, 2007 11:08 PM

Last week my colleague Eric Zeman blogged about growing rumors that Google is building a mobile phone. I blogged about the potential for a Google Phone twice in January and last month. This week, more rumors broke about the Google Phone. I guess they must be up to something.

Google posted a job ad looking for an "Analog Designer/Engineer." The job ad goes on to say that Google is looking for someone with a degree in "electrical engineering or related technical degree" and "extensive circuit modeling and analysis experience." Could this be someone that might build a mobile phone?

Ed Hardy at Brighthand joins the rumor mill:

The posting goes on to say that a qualified applicant needs to have an electrical engineering or related technical degree, extensive circuit modeling and analysis experience, and excellent programming skills.

Although rumors of a Google phone have been circulating for quite some time, this is the best evidence so far that this company is really considering such a device.

You can bet we'll hear more rumors about this mobile or wireless Google device in the next few weeks. Stay tuned, this rumor has a lot of potential.
