Smartphone Sales Continue To Soar

Posted by Stephen Wellman, Mar 9, 2007 09:21 PM

Smartphone sales continue to soar. InPhonic said its online store, Wirefly, reported a 70 percent increase in smartphone sales between the third quarter of 2006 and the first quarter of 2007. Which smartphones are users flocking to?

Wirefly said its best-selling smartphone right now is the Samsung Blackjack. After the Blackjack, the best sellers in order are the Motorola Q followed by the BlackBerry Pearl and the BlackBerry 8700.

Wirefly said that smartphone sales are strong because the public is more aware of smartphones and the devices are now available in cooler form factors. Personally, I thought it had something to do with the fact that smartphones are now a lot cheaper than they used to be just a few years.

Regardless, there is no denying the fact that smartphones are now mainstream and that business users as well as consumers are eager to get their hands on hipper, cooler smartphones.
