Dell Kills The Axim PDA

Posted by Stephen Wellman, Apr 9, 2007 02:11 PM

Mobility Site is reporting that Dell has effectively killed the Axim line of PDAs. What's an Axim fan to do?

According to a related post from Engadget, Dell removed the last x51-series models from its retail site. The move brings the Axim product line to an end.

Dell first launched the Axim in 2002. The devices were trailblazers among the Pocket PC crowd, offering early PDA-based Wi-Fi access and other tech innovations. Rumors of a Dell smartphone are all around the blogosphere, but for now it looks like Dell is going back to basics to fix its core business.

What do you think? Do you miss the Axim? Why did Dell fail to keep up with the evolution of the PDA to the smartphone? And will Dell ever launch a smartphone?
