I'm In UR InfurmashunWeeks Splainin LOLcats K Bai

Posted by Mitch Wagner, May 21, 2007 12:59 PM

LOLcats are the latest fad making the rounds of the Internet. They're pictures of cats doing goofy things, with captions superimposed on the images, spelled out crudely as though the cat himself were doing the typing. They're hilarious.

The blog "I Can Has Cheezburger" is all LOLcats, all the time, and provides a history of LOLcats. LOLcats started on discussion forums, where people started posting images with captions overlaid in response to other messages. For example, if someone posted something you want to see more of, you might respond with this.

"I HAS A FLAVOR" is a classic LOLcat.

Other excellent examples:

I has a Bucket is an LOLwalrus. I'm starting to see some of those around.

I EAT DIS HUMIN U NEXT

PROZACS I has it

Everybody, STAND BACK. It could be a bomb.

The definitive collection of LOLcats: Meme cats

Twitter uses LOLcats for error messages.

When you imagine me writing this post, you should imagine me sitting alone in my home office, laughing like a crazy person.
