Mobile Web Turns Into An Escape From Corporate Firewalls
A few months ago I reported how mobile Web use was growing, particularly in the U.S. In the U.K., employees are flocking to toilets to use the mobile Web. Why? Because it's a fast and easy way to escape the prying eyes of IT managers and corporate firewalls.A few months ago I reported how mobile Web use was growing, particularly in the U.S. In the U.K., employees are flocking to toilets to use the mobile Web. Why? Because it's a fast and easy way to escape the prying eyes of IT managers and corporate firewalls.According to a new survey from T-Mobile U.K., 15 percent of the adult workforce "hides" in the bathroom so they can safely access their favorite banned Websites, including social networking sites and Web-based e-mail.
OK, so not all of these adults are going to the toilet to check MySpace. But 48 percent of the employees surveyed use their mobile phones to check the Web while at work.
