Barack Obama Campaign Goes Mobile For Election 2008

Posted by Stephen Wellman, Jun 20, 2007 04:07 PM

The campaign of Democrtaic presidential candidate Barack Obama has embraced the third screen as a way to rally support and organize volunteers. Looks like Election 2008 is going mobile.

"This campaign is about the people across the country who are taking organizing into their own hands and text messaging is a key tool that will help us reach out to people who rely on their mobile phone service for information," said Joe Rospars, new media director for the Obama campaign in a statement. "This is a service we hope to use to continue to communicate with our growing base of supporters who are excited about playing an active role in our efforts to change this country."

Signing up the service is easy. All you have to do is text "GO" to OBAMA (62262). Anyone who texts before June 30th will get a campaign bumper sticker.

The service offers free ringtones and wallpapers to highlight Barack Obama’s positions on campaign issues such as the war in Iraq, healthcare, as well as the latest speeches and developments on the campaign trail.
