Verizon Wireless Quietly Rolling Out More V CAST TV Markets

Verizon Wireless launched its MediaFLO-based V CAST mobile TV services back in early March to two dozen or so markets across the United States. Today, Verizon added Corpus Christi, Texas, to the list of markets, which has swelled over the past few months to 37.

Today, Verizon added Corpus Christi, Texas, to the list of markets, which has swelled over the past few months to 37.Now among the markets that can access the mobile TV services are some of the country's biggest cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta. These have been added to the initial set of smaller cities receiving the service that were mostly based in Western states.

Despite the slow, but on-going, rollout of V CAST TV services to new markets, Verizon has been mum on any real figures concerning the number of subscribers or what revenue the company has seen since its introduction. With packages ranging from $13 to $25 per month, V CAST TV is a premium service. It is still only available on two handsets, the LG VX9400 and Samsung SCH-u620, though a Motorola model (the Z6TV) is rumored to be adding the TV service soon.
