Mobile Business Expo: iAnywhere Brings Enterprise E-mail To The iPhone

Posted by Stephen Wellman, Oct 24, 2007 11:40 AM

If you're a professional who shelled out for the iPhone but still can't use it to access your work e-mail, get ready because soon you may be able to access your corporate network with your iPhone.

Yesterday after the mobile e-mail panel at Mobile Business Expo I sat down with Senthil Krishnapillai, Director of Product Management, Sybase iAnywhere, to take a look at the new iPhone enterprise application.

The iAnywhere iPhone application allows IT managers to extend secure, enterprise-grade mobile e-mail access to the iPhone through iAnywhere's Onebridge platform. The new application works with Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange. Users can also pull up access to PIM and other functions through a secure Web-based interface.

For those skeptics out there who argued that the iPhone's applications aren't up-to-snuff, Krishnapillai said that the iPhone's e-mail browser is ready for business, "The iPhone's e-mail browser is ready for enterprise use with this application."

iAnywhere's iPhone application will launch sometime in the first half of 2008.
