On the heels of its flagship consumer phones announced a couple of weeks ago, Verizon Wireless got all official with three new Windows Mobile 6 smartphones plus a Palm OS smartphone for the enterprise set. With three sliders and a Treo, there's a little something for everyone.Truth to tell, these smartphone are a bit boring. Why? Because they're not new. They've all been around in other incarnations for the better part of a year. Even so, they all offer EV-DO data and all the productivity that Windows Mobile 6 and Palm OS afford, including email and document editing and viewing.

Starting with the Treo 755p, we're looking at the same phone that Sprint has been carrying for months. It's the unchanged, tired Treo design and offers nothing new or revolutionary at this point. But if Treos with Palm OS are your bag, and Verizon Wireless is your network provider, lucky you.

The next three are all Windows Mobile 6-based. Probably the most interesting of the new handsets is the Samsung i760. It is a slider that features a full QWERTY keyboard as well as an off-set numeric keypad and navigation button on the front. Samsung is one of the world's leading developers of thin handsets, and the i760 is certainly no fatty. This handset has been promised since CES back in January, folks. I tested it then. The keyboard was less than stellar. But it the most stylish of the bunch.

The other two are from HTC. The SMT5800 and XV6800 are both sliders as well that offer full QWERTY keyboards. They are more utilitarian in design, but offer all the connectedness that a busy mobile professional can use day in and day out.

The kicker is they all require $80 voice and data plans. But considering the value they represent, that's not such a terrible price point.

If you ask me, though, the Voyager and Venus are more interesting.
