Google Registers Weird Domain Names

Posted by Andrew Conry-Murray, Apr 24, 2008 10:27 AM

Is Google getting into the burrito business? Why else would the company register bayareaburritos.com and thesecretofburritos.com?

Pingdom sent me a link to a blog post about strange domain names registered by Google.

Many of the domains are obviously registered to prevent squatters, but a lot of them, such as the burrito domains, are downright puzzling.

That said, my home region of upstate New York sorely lacks a good burrito infrastructure. I'd love to see Mr. Page and Mr. Brin put some time and cash into finding a way to use the Internet to transport my favorite Mexican food from Berkeley to my desk via a Web browser.

And for the record, I hereby officially coin the acronym BaaS (Burritos as a Service).
