Mapness Travel Journal

Posted by Fritz Nelson, Apr 15, 2008 09:01 PM

It's always interesting seeing a company as it's just coming out of hiding and starting to market its product. Mapness is just such a company, and you could sense the wide-eyed fear of expectation as Wojciech Kosinski talked about this online journal site.

Today, Mapness is an online travel blog, but the goal is to become a social network for online travel journaling, where the community can share recommendations and photos. So, for example, if you were planning a trip somewhere, you could see where others have been (and I mean literally see where they've been), and read thoughts and recommendations by other travelers.

Pretty interesting site, but there's lots of work to do for this eight-month-old company that just put its site up three months ago, including building widgets for the major social networking sites.

But they know that. Check out this video, complete with the natural fears of being a bunch of techies without much marketing know-how.
