Securing VoIP With SecureLogix
SecureLogix was an early pioneer in voice over IP security. I remember several years ago, when I was running Network Computing, we gave it our product of the year award. So it's no surprise to see the company still plugging away in 2008. The question is, really, to what end, and I put that to CTO Mark Collier.SecureLogix was an early pioneer in voice over IP security. I remember several years ago, when I was running Network Computing, we gave it our product of the year award. So it's no surprise to see the company still plugging away in 2008. The question is, really, to what end, and I put that to CTO Mark Collier.The threats are the same as any data threat: denial of service attacks, malformed packets, and holes in the underlying infrastructure, but you never read much about these kinds of attacks on voice systems. Sure, there's the normal toll fraud and eavesdropping. But Collier and company are convinced that more is on its way, especially with everything running on IP. The outcomes: taking down call centers or a trading floor, more toll fraud, voice mail theft.
