Digital Video Provided Security For Olympics
Nice's real-time distributed digital video system, called NiceVision Net, can spot suspicious packages left behind on crowded subway platforms and automatically alert security personnel. The system is also used to automatically detect unauthorized entry into secured areas of the stations. The video system includes NiceVision Analytics, which is comprised of video content analytics applications. NiceVision Analytics is integrated with a control center management application, providing real-time recording and review capabilities that can help security personnel make decisions about incidents. All Beijing Metro stations connected to the security system are monitored from a station monitoring room and from a central command and control center. This gives security personnel the ability to identify risks and quickly take action if necessary. Nice video security systems were used to monitor the two tunnels under Beijing's main Olympic Stadium and the Olympic Swimming Pool. In the tunnels, the security technology provides a variety of functions, including vehicle detection, to determine whether there are vehicles parked inside the tunnel; intrusion detection, to spot unauthorized entry into secured areas; counterflow, to automatically pinpoint vehicles moving in the wrong direction and immediately alert security officers; and vehicle counting, to estimate the number of vehicles passing through the tunnel at any particular time. Nice digital video surveillance systems also are deployed at the Beijing Capital International Airport terminal and the Beijing Tianjin High Speed Train system. Prior to the Beijing Metro implementation, Nice had been selected to provide video security systems to China's Ministry of Rail. The ministry is using the systems for three lines, the high-speed rail line from Hefei to Wuhan, the Qing Zang rail connecting Lhasa in Tibet to Germu in Qinghai, and the Beijing-Tianjin inter-city passenger line, which is the country's first high-speed passenger rail service. « Obama Nomination Spotlights 'Net Nation | Main | BlackBerry Wins Versus Windows Mobile For Google Apps Mail » |
