'Mad Men' Characters Get Twitter Accounts
Characters on the prime-time soap opera Mad Men are getting accounts at Twitter, where they post in-character comments about the goings-on at the hard-drinking, hard-smoking, sexed-up Sterling Cooper ad agency. However, the characters are at war with Twitter management, who are suspending accounts for copyright violations.  VentureBeat has the story. (Via The Toad Stool.)
This is just plain wrong, not because of copyright issues, but because there wasn't any Twitter in 1962, the year the series is set. Heck, it was a big deal when Sterling Cooper got a Xerox machine a few weeks ago. Or maybe Twitter was around then. Maybe they ran it on mainframes with punchcards.
