'Mad Men' Characters Get Twitter Accounts

Posted by Mitch Wagner, Aug 26, 2008 11:48 AM

Characters on the prime-time soap opera Mad Men are getting accounts at Twitter, where they post in-character comments about the goings-on at the hard-drinking, hard-smoking, sexed-up Sterling Cooper ad agency. However, the characters are at war with Twitter management, who are suspending accounts for copyright violations.

Mad MenVentureBeat has the story. (Via The Toad Stool.)

This is just plain wrong, not because of copyright issues, but because there wasn't any Twitter in 1962, the year the series is set. Heck, it was a big deal when Sterling Cooper got a Xerox machine a few weeks ago.

Or maybe Twitter was around then. Maybe they ran it on mainframes with punchcards.

We're not as glamorous as the gang at Sterling Cooper, but you can get all the latest tech headlines by following InformationWeek on Twitter (informationweek).
