If you're in the market for a brand, spanking new BlackBerry, now hear this: Wal-Mart is selling the just-released BlackBerry Bold for free. Who knows how long that price will last, so you'd better hurry...Wow. Just a week after Wal-Mart begins selling the HTC G1 at a discount, it is now offering the long-awaited BlackBerry Bold for a song. There are a few catches.

First, the Bold is available via Wal-Mart's Web site. It doesn't say anything about offering the Bold for free at brick-and-mortar stores.

Second, the Bold is actually being sold by LetsTalk, an online dealer of cell phones that often offers phones at cheap or low prices.

Third, you will actually have to pay for the phone up front with a new service plan. That means taxes, activation fees, and so on. (Oh, and that whole monthly service plan thing, too.)

Last, the real killer: You will receive a $199.99 rebate from LetsTalk.com. However, unlike most rebates that you can submit right away, you have to wait this rebate out. You can only send it in after you've had the phone for 120 days (4 months), and if you forget to send the rebate in before the 180th day (6 months) after purchase, you'll be out of luck.

LetsTalk is banking that you'll forget about the rebate or lose the rebate materials/forms and therefore not actually get the rebate. If you're lucky enough to remember to send the rebate in, then you'll have to sit through another 8 to 10 weeks before seeing a check in the mail.

Still sound like "free" to you?
