BlackBerry Storm To Street On November 24?

Posted by Eric Zeman, Nov 12, 2008 09:46 AM

The guessing game continues. A recently leaked internal Verizon Wireless document suggests that the much-anticipated BlackBerry Storm will be available on Monday, Nov. 24.

We have to take this information with a grain of salt, but The Boy Genius Report calls the source solid. Here's the deal.

Verizon Wireless will be holding "pre-launch" events on Nov. 20 at 123 corporate stores. The Storm will not be available for sale on that day. The prelaunch event is gong to be strictly limited to Verizon's high-end VIP customers. Said VIPs received a mailing, so they know who they are. The general public is not invited or allowed to attend this event. The event will simply be an opportunity for Verizon's VIPs to get some hands-on time with the Storm and preorder it if they so wish. (As if they wouldn't.)

The device itself will become generally available to everyone starting on Monday, Nov. 24. The retail price will be at or near the $200 to $220 price point, which includes subsidies for signing a contract and a mail-in rebate.

The BGR's informant also mentioned that the latest build of the Storm is stable and even includes some improvements in the touch input. Lastly, Verizon Wireless is anticipating heavy demand for the device, and will stock stores accordingly with enough Storm's for everyone who wants one.
