Verizon Wireless Rep: 'Yep, Netbooks On The Way'

It turns out, they were correct.
Verizon Wireless spokesperson Brenda Raney confirmed that Verizon Wireless plans to sell netbooks by the end of the second quarter, meaning before the end of June. She said that Verizon is looking at devices from a handful of different manufacturers, but wouldn't say which ones.

Verizon competitor AT&T already offers a netbook in a partnership with RadioShack. The $99 device requires a two-year contract, which costs $60 per month for 5GB of wireless broadband data. Any such deal from Verizon would likely be similar to AT&T's.
Rumors have suggested that Verizon is evaluating devices from HP and Dell, with one report all-but-confirming that the HM Mini 1000 will be the first device.
For the record, all Verizon has confirmed is that it does indeed plan to sell a netbook within the next three months. It confirmed no other details, such as price points, data fees or other information.
