A new job posting has appeared that suggests Verizon Wireless is considering Android devices for its network. Specifically, the job title is "Android Device Expert." Specifically, the job title is "Android Device Expert." Does that mean Verizon is ready to rock the Android?Job listings by no means indicate a definite outcome, but they do serve as a nice clue. In this instance, a job posting for Verizon Wireless seeks out an Android Device Expert. The posting reads, in part:
It will be responsible for end to end delivery of innovative java based mobile applications on existing or pre-commercial handsets with an initial focus on voicemail applications. It is also expected to drive application development; conduct required testing and provides production support.Job specs that Verizon hopes to see in applicants for the Android Device Expert include:
- Familiar with Web based technologies (DHTML/CSS, JSP/servlet/ASP, web servers, Tomcat/JBoss/Weblogic/WebSphere/IIS)
- Experience with RIM JDK is a big plus
- Experience with C++/C/.NET/ASP
- Experience with Android
- Experience working with Relational database and SQL
- Understanding in the following technical areas: memory management, file systems, networking, multi-threading programming
It's nice to know that Verizon is at least taking a look.
