You're not alone. RIM has already issued a minor update to the application to smooth out the problems. The version of Facebook that you likely downloaded the other day was 1.5.031. Some of the problems experienced by end users, according to The Boy Genius, include, "your default calendar might have gone all screwy and been replaced by one specifically for Facebook. It wasn't only calendars that got messed up however, as a few friendships hit the rocks when everyone who didn't list a phone number on his or her Facebook profile page was bombarded with requests to share numbers."
I didn't have those particular problems, but I did have some very slow running software and a few complete crashes of the application.

In response to the issues, RIM has issued an update lickety-split. If you go to www.blackberry.com/facebook from your BlackBerry, you can snag version 1.5.032, which is the latest build. The new version doesn't seem to be in BlackBerry Apps World.
One quick suggestion. It is recommended that you restore your default calendar and reset it before installing the newer version of the software.
According to some user comments, results have been hit or miss with the new version.
