Is the Pre's release imminent?I'd take this one with a healthy dose of salt. It appears that an anonymous tipster has let it be known that the first wave of manufactured Palm Pres is on its way to the good old U.S. of A.
According to the source, the phones are on a plane bound for a UPS hub located in Louisville, Ky. Once they arrive there, they'll be transferred elsewhere to be prepared for re-shipping.

Earlier reports had suggested that the Pres would be manufactured by Chi Mei, a company based in Taiwan.
Since its announcement, Palm and Sprint have stuck firm and fast to the "first half of 2009" release date for the Pre. I've heard from internal Sprint sources that the "first half" probably means late April or early May. Well, here we are in late April, and Sprint has not given any sort of hint that the Palm Pre will be available soon.
If this report is accurate, it doesn't necessarily mean that the Pre will be available in the next few weeks. But, given that there are just nine weeks until the end of the first half of 2009, time is running short.
