AT&T Nabs Curve 8900
There's good news if you're on AT&T and are looking for an update to your BlackBerry Curve, as the carrier said it would have the Curve 8900 available this summer. This is the slimmest full-keyboard BlackBerry yet, and it's quite a fine device with only a few negatives. There's good news if you're on AT&T and are looking for an update to your BlackBerry Curve, as the carrier said it would have the Curve 8900 available this summer. This is the slimmest full-keyboard BlackBerry yet, and it's quite a fine device with only a few negatives. The updated Curve was originally released for T-Mobile in January, and I've spent a few weeks with it and am impressed. The body of the device is similar to the Storm, but it's much thinner, less hefty, and feels really good in your hands. It has a full physical QWERY keyboard that's a little bit smaller than the Bold, but still very nice to type with.
The high-resolution screen is crisp and sharp, and this makes reading text or watching movies a delight. The handset and operating system were very zippy thanks to the fast processor, the GPS was fairly accurate, and the 3.2-megapixel camera was pretty good. I also appreciate that you can expand the memory via the microSD slot.

My only beef with the smartphone is that it lacks 3G data, and that will be the case with AT&T's version. I suppose it's not that bad because AT&T will include free access to its more than 20,000 Wi-Fi hotspots, but I still appreciate high-speed data on the go. Look for an "early summer" release date, and I would be surprised if it sold for more than $149 with a new contract.
