YouTube To Uploaders: C'Mon, You Can Do Better Than That!

YouTube recently revealed that its users are uploading 20 hours of content to the site every minute. But that's not good enough. YouTube is pushing users to increase the rate of uploading to 24 hours every minute. YouTube also announced a new social tool for YouTubers to take advantage of.

I can't imagine the space that 24 hours of content takes, let alone 24 hours of content that's uploaded every minute of every day.

YouTube's Ryan Junee tells us that about two years ago, users were posting about six hours of video to YouTube every minute. That slowly grew to eight, then 10, then 13. In January, that number hit 15 hours (the equivalent of Hollywood releasing over 86,000 new full-length movies into theaters each week), and in the past four months, that number has leaped 33% to 20 hours per minute.

Junee urges users to upload more. He wants to see a full days' worth of content loaded to the site every minute. Can users do it? I am sure it will happen pretty soon.

On top of that, there are now some new features being added to YouTube., "Today we're launching a feature that allows users to conveniently record a video response immediately after watching a video, making the YouTube experience even more social. When the video you're watching ends, an icon encouraging you to respond will appear in the player. Clicking on the icon will activate your webcam and immediately bring you into the conversation."

Social is good. I receive video responses to my videos all the time. I look forward to seeing what my viewers will be posting now that this faster response method is available.
