Google Goings-On

Posted by Thomas Claburn, Jun 12, 2009 06:40 PM

There's so much going on at Google that it's not always possible to cover it all. What follows are some recent developments that may be of interest but didn't get much attention. And this isn't a complete list. I've omitted the developments in the many foreign countries where Google does business.

Google is asking users to vote for the winner of the Google Photography Prize, a global competition to find the best student-created iGoogle theme.

The Google Maps Transit Layer now includes Shanghai, Tokyo and Moscow.

Disneyland Paris can now be seen in Google Maps Street View.

There's a new AdWords interface.

The Open Social blog includes a variety of videos from the Google IO developer conference.

Google is connecting Local Business Center search listings to Google Base data.

Google launched a Google Apps Deployment for Enterprise Web site, to help businesses make the transition to Google Apps.

You can now display your Google public location badge on your Google profile.

And a Google engineer defended the decision to release a half-baked Mac version of Google's Chrome Web browser.
