Is Oracle Looking To Acquire GoldenGate For Data Migration?

Reports are circulating that Oracle will trump this week's acquisition of Conformia with the purchase of GoldenGate Software, whose data-migration and real-time integration tools are already widely used to link Oracle with Siebel and other environments.

Reports are circulating that Oracle will trump this week's acquisition of Conformia with the purchase of GoldenGate Software, whose data-migration and real-time integration tools are already widely used to link Oracle with Siebel and other environments."The two companies have had a deep relationship for some time and while a deal has been kicked around in the past, talks stalled because GoldenGate always priced itself higher than Oracle was willing to spend," according to a report from The 451 Group on SeekingAlpha.

As Oracle eyes continuing growth in a market previously served by a slew of vendors, the need for such real-time data-migration and integration tools will increase. Without offering details, the Seeking Alpha post says the rumor mill is guessing that the reported GoldenGate deal would be much larger than the Conformia acquisition.

Such a deal would also underscore the increasing emphasis companies are placing on the white-hot category of data management.
