T-Mobile Launch Events For New Phones

Posted by Ed Hansberry, Jun 29, 2009 07:21 AM

T-Mobile in the US is holding events in seven cities around the country for the impending launches of the HTC Touch Pro2 and HTC Dash 3G. The Touch Pro2 has been eagerly awaited by many, and the Dash 3G might be better known to you as the HTC Snap.

The Boy Genius Report has obtained a list of the cities where the events will be held.

  • July 14 - San Francisco, CA
  • July 15 - Chicago, IL
  • July 16 - Los Angeles, CA
  • July 21 - Arlington, VA
  • July 22 - Houston, TX
  • July 23 - Atlanta, GA
  • July 28 - Fort Lauderdale, FL

BGR has links to the registration, but all seven cities simply show "I am sorry but the registration for this event is at capacity" when you click on the links, which suggests there is a lot of anticipation for these two devices.

The HTC Touch Pro2 is, as the name suggests, a touch screen device with a physical keyboard that slides out from the side, physically similar to the AT&T Tilt. It has 512MB of ROM, 288MB of RAM and a 528MHz Qualcomm processor. It ships with WinMo 6.1, but HTC has already indicated that it will provide a WinMo 6.5 upgrade. The question is, will T-Mobile provide it? It also uses the HTC TouchFlo 3D user interface

The T-Mobile Dash 3G, or Snap, is a non-touch screen device. One of the most interesting features of the Snap is the Inner Circle button that allows you to quickly filter your emails to only show those from people you consider important, like your spouse or your boss. For some reason, T-mobile seems to have removed that button. This phone also comes with a Qualcomm 528MHz processor, though it is a different model than what the Touch Pro2 has. It has 256MB of ROM and 128MB of RAM.

I expect both devices will be very popular. It has been a while since T-Mobile has released some exciting Windows Mobile devices.
