ReviewCam: My Firefox 3.5 Picks & Pans

Posted by Mitch Wagner, Jul 1, 2009 01:58 PM

The latest version of Firefox is a solid upgrade, adding performance improvements, geolocation, better tab-handling, and a new privacy mode to help keep your addiction to Cute Overload a secret. Take a look at this video, where we put Firefox 3.5 through its paces.

Firefox 3.5 uses the new TraceMonkey JavaScript rendering engine, to make Web apps like Gmail and Google Maps run faster. The new geolocation feature lets you tell Web applications where you are, and it uses triangulation on nearby Wi-Fi hotspots to work even on devices that don't support GPS. New tab management lets you rip off tabs and place them on the desktop. And I like a couple of the usability tricks in the browser's implementation of privacy mode—aka "porn mode."

Watch the video and see for yourself.
