InformationWeek Analytics Has A New Home

Posted by Art Wittmann, Sep 9, 2009 02:39 PM

It’s both a tough time and an exciting time to be in IT. It’s exciting because the systems and services that IT offers business can provide true competitive advantages.

While there’s nothing more energizing than being at the center of what drives business, the reality is that most IT organizations have fewer resources to work with than a year or two ago. And that reality makes it harder than ever to evaluate, purchase, and implement the new technologies that can make a difference.

To help with that challenge, we’ve merged two of our premium-content products, InformationWeek Reports and InformationWeek Analytics into a single site under the Analytics name. Please visit the new, registration based site .

You’ll find we’ve divided content into two types. “Analytics Briefs” are short, easily digestible pieces that give you a quick look at emerging technologies, new products, and market trends. “Analytics Reports” are longer and usually are based on InformationWeek’s market-leading research, complemented by analysis from experts who’ve done actual implementations of the technology being discussed.

In survey after survey, you’ve told us that the source you trust most for technology and product advice is your peers. By combining research with that expert analysis, we give you both a broad view of how your peers are approaching a new technology and the best practices learned through real-world, hands on implementations. Most of our content is arranged by technology category so that you can quickly find what you’re looking for.

This new site will serve as the basis for future improvements. In the short run, look for content sections devoted to certain vertical sectors like health care and government. We’ll also be adding video downloads that demonstrate new technologies and concepts.

Our new site design is just the beginning in our effort to bring you timely and highly actionable information that will help you make the right decisions about which technologies to adopt and when and how to adopt them. For instance, you’ll see us work more closely with other sites within the InformationWeek Business Technology Network, such as Global CIO, Network Computing, and Dark Reading. We’ll help bring the InformationWeek Analytics research perspective to the great coverage those sites provide. As always, we’re looking for feedback. Let us know what you think of the new site and tell us how we can make it even better. Just drop me an e-mail at awittmann@techweb.com, or leave a comment here.
