America's Top 10 Most Satisfying Phones In August

Posted by Ed Hansberry, Nov 5, 2009 12:01 AM

In the phone world, a list of top phones two months ago is really outdated, but it is an interesting snapshot at what is grabbing our mobile communication attention and are satisfying us most. August is particularly interesting as this would be right after the iPhone 3.0 and Palm Pre launched.

Not every phone on the list is a smartphone, but those that aren't are top of the line feature phones chock full of features. FierceWireless has the full list. The first smartphone on the list is the Blackberry Curve at spot number 7. Coming in at number 6 is the only Android phone on the market at the time, the T-Mobile G1. Here we are a few months later and it seems like there are dozens of Android devices coming out. It wouldn't surprise me if on the next top phone list if there were more than one Android phone on it.

RIM has one other entry on the list in position 3 - the Bold 9000. That means the touch screen Storm isn't one of the more loved devices despite the attention it has received in the media.

The 16GB iPhone 3G is in spot number 5. The 8GB iPhone 3G is in spot number 2 and the 32GB iPhone 3GS garnered the top spot in customer satisfaction.

Notably absent is anything from Nokia running the Symbian OS. There are also no phones running Windows Mobile. We'll have to see if WinMo 6.5, launched last month, will generate a phone that really satisfies its customers.

And the Palm Pre? Nowhere to be seen. That device really got a lot of mind share before it launched, but after the initial week or so of sales seems to have lost some of its luster. Its first quarter of sales didn't hit one million units. Those that did sell apparently didn't thrill their owners enough to get a high enough satisfaction ranking to make the list.
