Details On Windows Mobile 7
The rumors surrounding Windows Mobile have been heating up lately. There were some vague references to it at CES and many expect a big announcement about it at Mobile World Congress in February. Now we have a ton of info coming out about what WinMo 7 will actually look like. It is still early yet and things could change, but let's see how it looks so far.The rumors surrounding Windows Mobile have been heating up lately. There were some vague references to it at CES and many expect a big announcement about it at Mobile World Congress in February. Now we have a ton of info coming out about what WinMo 7 will actually look like. It is still early yet and things could change, but let's see how it looks so far.The guys at WM Experts have done it again by obtaining a lot of detailed information on Microsoft's mobile platform. As the blog states, these are just rumors, some of which have been independently corroborated, others haven't.
The first big news is WM Experts is saying the name will just be Seven, not Windows Mobile 7. I find that a bit surprising for two reasons. First, I think that will too easily confused with Windows 7. Second, for a company that is famous for names like "Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition for Pocket PC Phone Edition" just "Seven" seems too short.

They also are saying there will be a fork in the platform, a business edition and a media edition. This is interesting and WM Experts points out that this fork may be the reason for the contradictory release dates we've heard about as they don't expect these two versions to be released at the same time.
Those are just two of the rumors that have come out in the past day or so. Head over to the WM Experts blog to check out the full scoop. They even have some detailed hardware specs of a couple of phones expected to launch with WinMo 7.
I don't think we'll have to wait too long to validate ore refute some of these rumors. MWC is just a few weeks away and expectations are high that Microsoft will announce details. With their position in the marketplace and the bad press Windows Mobile has been getting compared to the competition, they cannot afford not to generate some buzz on the new release.
